The Rivers district (Rivierenbuurt) was built between 1920 and 1940 as part of the South Plan of architect H.P. Berlage.
In the Rivierenbuurt you will find a lot of buildings built according to the typical style of the Amsterdam School of Architecture. Famous architects such as Michiel de Klerk and Piet Kramer have worked here.

In the south part of this area you will find the Martin Luther King park, a beautiful city park in which every August a theater festival De Parade takes place. And also right around the corner the large city park Beatrix Park with its herbal garden, art collection and recreative areas.

And let's not forget the De Miranda Bad with its indoor tropical paradise, outdoor pools and pleasant lawn to enjoy a bit of Amsterdam sun. In this real local neighbourhood you can find lots of nice boutiques and proper local cafes and restaurants.

Besides the many wonderful museums in other areas of Amsterdam, we highly recommend you visit the Anne Frank Huis.
